What inspired you to create Satya Yogawear?
As a busy mama, yoga student and teacher, I pretty much live in yoga clothes! When I started Satya Yogawear in 2009, I was basically producing clothes for myself and friends and it has grown organically from there to wholesale, a little boutique in Bali and online store. I am drawn to simple and classic design so my focus has always been on creating classic styles, the kind of ‘basics’ we always need for our movement practices. As a yoga student, the value of ‘Satya’ (truth) has always been resonant with this mission – to focus on the essential and base my business on integrity and consistency.
What does the term ‘Live in Satya’ or ‘Live in Truth’ mean to you?
After more than a decade working in Marketing, I woke up one morning with a deep sense that I had to quit my job. I had no idea where or what was next, but I knew in my heart that things had to change. The only thing in my life that made me truly happy was my yoga practice and that was the only thing that I took with me. That was the day I began trusting my intuition and from there I followed my heart to India, South East Asia and on to Bali, where I still live today with my 3 year old daughter, my husband and our cat, Tiga. It has truly been a voyage of self discovery and, through the good times and the tougher times, I strive every day to listen, to let go and be guided by my heart. I believe that life is like a river… we can cling to the sides and try to swim upstream, or we can live in the flow. Ultimately, we are all headed to the same place. Satyayogawear.com
